VJ Beginners Bootcamp

Leave with more than knowledge.Leave with a show.

From your first Resolume project to the stage, with taste.

I'll teach you Resolume in under an hour. The rest of the course is the part nobody teaches.

Most VJ sets are screensavers - clips that fit the tempo and mean nothing. This teaches you to think like a VJ: your own style, something to say, and the technical skill to say it live.

Taught like a class, not a screen recording. Every lesson has slides, materials and exercises, in the order I wish I'd learned them.

This is for you
  • DJs who keep getting told to bring visuals
  • Motion designers who've never gone live
  • Dancers and performers who want to build the world around them
  • Promoters and collectives who can't afford a freelancer every night
  • Creatives who want to develop taste as a VJ and put it on the big screen

This is about more than learning Resolume. It's about becoming the artist behind the live performance.

Hey, I'm Tia.

A year ago I didn't know what a VJ was.

I found live visuals studying Creative Computing at the University of the Arts London.

Since then, I've built them for JELEEL!, for exhibitions, and for rooms full of people who came for the music and left talking about the screens.

What I make sits where technology, Black culture and storytelling collide.

That's not just a moodboard. That's taste.

And it's how I've been able to make an impact in a short time. It's also the part this course actually teaches.

I'm close enough to the start that I still remember exactly what confused me.

This is everything I wish someone had handed me a year ago.

FAQ
Do I need any experience in the technical side?+

None! but if you're coming from a creative background thats even better. This is built for beginners. I start from what VJing is and take you all the way to performing.

Can I get paid work as a VJ+

VJs get booked for club nights, brand events, festivals and live shows. - t's a real job and there's demand for it. This course won't get you the gig; it gives you the skill the gig requires.

Is it for Mac and Windows?+

filmed on Windows, but Resolume works identically on Mac.

Do I need to buy Resolume?+

Resolume is separate software with its own cost. You can do the whole course on the free trial — it watermarks the output, which is fine for learning. There's a student discount too.
